Terrence Hayes is a candidate for Portland City Council in District 1 (East Portland).
Hayes is the President of Restore Nuisance Abatement, a graffiti removal company. Building on his own experience of being incarcerated at a young age – a sentence that was later vacated by a Multnomah County judge – he is also a community advisor for Portland Ceasefire, a city program aimed at reducing gun violence. Additonally, Hayes chairs the City’s Focused Intervention Task Force Community Oversight Group, which advises law enforcement on strategies to curb gun violence and excessive use of police force.
Hayes’ campaign priorities include cleaning up trash and graffiti, supporting small businesses, and boosting affordability. He advocates for boosting Portland’s police force and involving residents to improve the relationship between officers and marginalized communities.
