John Toran is a candidate for District 4 (West Portland and the Reed, Woodstock, and Sellwood-Moreland neighborhoods).
Toran, a property manager, is the Founder and Former Owner of RJ’s Leaf, a cannabis dispensary in Northwest Portland. With a background in construction and procurement, Toran has served as an acting signatory for the labor union Operating Engineers Local 701 and has negotiated contracts with agencies like the US Army and the Department of Homeland Security.
Toran unsuccessfully ran for a seat in the Oregon Legislature in 2002. He currently serves as a Precinct Committee Person for the Multnomah County Democrats.
Toran’s campaign focuses on addressing homelessness and public drug use, enhancing public safety and transportation infrastructure, promoting government accountability and expanding affordable housing options. He also aims to support local businesses and integrate arts into city life.
