Mitch Green is a candidate for District 4 (West Portland and the Reed, Woodstock, and Sellwood-Moreland neighborhoods).
Green is an Army Veteran and Energy Economist focusing on the regional electric power grid. His resume includes teaching economics as an Adjunct Professor at Portland State University and as an instructor at Portland Community College.
Green’s website lists his priorities as environmental stewardship, expanding access to affordable housing, boosting livability, investing in pedestrian and cycling infrastructure, and advocating for working families. Specific policy proposals include a social housing program, where the City of Portland would own and manage rental housing with rents tied to 30% of tenants’ income.
Green has committed to the ‘Save Portland Street Response’ pledge, vowing to prioritize, introduce, and vote in favor of full funding for Portland Street Response to operate 24-7 in every budget cycle. Additionally, he has signed the ‘No Fossil Fuel Money’ pledge, committing not to accept contributions of over $200 from the oil, gas, and coal industries. Further, he is a signatory of a pledge to vote in favor of a Gaza Ceasefire resolution, and a pledge to establish a Renters’ Bill of Rights expanding protections for renters.
