Mingus Mapps is a candidate for Portland Mayor.
Currently serving his first term, Mapps is a current Portland City Commissioner who oversees the Portland Bureau of Transportation, the Water Bureau, and the Bureau of Environmental Services.
Mapps holds a Ph.D. in political science from Cornell University and has taught political science at Brandeis University, Bowdoin College, and Portland State University. His resume also includes a position with the City of Portland’s Office of Community and Civic Life.
Mapps’ campaign is focused on tackling homelessness and addressing drug addiction and mental illness. He advocates for safe, equitable, and dignified living conditions, emphasizing data-driven policies and community engagement.
