Eric Zimmerman

Council District 4

Eric Zimmerman is a candidate for City Council in District 4 (West Portland and the Reed, Woodstock, and Sellwood-Moreland neighborhoods).

Zimmerman is an Army Veteran and National Guard Member who has served on the Multnomah County Veterans Task Force. He is the current Chief of Staff to County Commissioner Julia Brim-Edwards and previously served as Central City Senior Advisor to Mayor Ted Wheeler.

Zimmerman unsuccessfully ran for County Commission in 2016.

Eric Zimmerman’s priorities include addressing homelessness, increasing housing availability, and enhancing the livability of urban spaces. He advocates for streamlining housing development processes and improving the maintenance and safety of parks and community hubs. Specifically, Zimmerman proposes expanding Temporary Alternative Shelter Sites to provide immediate shelter solutions and seeks to ban RV camping/parking on Portland neighborhood streets. He also aims to expedite the permitting process for affordable housing development.
