Brian Conley is a candidate for Portland City Council in District 3 (Southeast Portland).
Conley is a former journalist in conflict zones such as Afghanistan, Libya, and the Balkans. He was also a leading force in the 2017 campaign to save Access Academy, a public school for accelerated learners.
Conley’s policy priorities are economic justice, responsible governnace, and climare action. He advocates for inclusionary housing, a renters’ bill of rights, and a wealth tax on the richest 0.01% of residents in Portland. Other goals include expanding Portland Street Response, the city’s team of unarmed responders addressing mental health emergencies, and boosting the Portland Clean Energy Fund.
