Bob Simril is a candidate for City Council in District 2 (North/Northeast Portland).
Simril is a Sales and Partner Development Executive whose experience incudes working with companies such as Coca-Cola, Microsoft, and various insurance and tech firms. He is currently an Account Manager for the software company Payscale.
The first in his family to graduate from college, Simril attended Lewis and Clark University, where he served as Vice President of the Black Student Union. His volunteer engagements include the walking SWAT (Sunday Walk and Talk), which has walked over 1,000 miles around the city, raising funds for houseless neighbors.
Simril’s priorities include addressing homelessness and street safety without raising taxes. He advocates for visible community policing in neighborhoods and aims to build trust between Portland Police and communities of color through data-driven hiring practices.
