Ben Hufford is a candidate for District 4 (West Portland and the Reed, Woodstock, and Sellwood-Moreland neighborhoods)..
Hufford is a Principal Architect at Design Department. Throughout his career as a Portland architect, he has worked on major projects such as the PDX Airport, Portland Community College Cascade Campus, and numerous urban planning and commercial projects. He is also part of the ownership groups behind establishments like Pizza Jerk, Victoria, Uncanny, Fortune, XO, June, and the Lightning Bar Collective.
Hufford earned his Master of Architecture degree from Harvard University and also attended Columbia University and Carleton College. He is a former Adjunct Professor at the University of Oregon.
Hufford’s platform focuses on solving Portland’s housing crisis and promoting transit-oriented development. He advocates for expanding shelter access and support services, enforcing public camping laws, and revitalizing downtown Portland.
