Angelita Morillo

Council District 3

Angelita Morillo is a candidate for Portland City Council in District 3 (Southeast Portland).

Morillo is a policy advocate for Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon, a non-profit dedicated to ending hunger in Oregon. Her experience also includes serving as a Constituent Services Specialist for City Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty and as a member of the Portland Rental Services Commission.

An activist and social media influencer, Morillo runs a TikTok account focused on civic issues, which boasts nearly 40,000 followers. She is a 2023 graduate of Emerge, a training school for Oregon Democratic women.

Morillo’s priorities include addressing housing and homelessness, improving sanitation, transportation, and infrastructure, and promoting public safety. Specific policy proposals include establishing a Sanitation Bureau to service Portland, expanding bike lanes on César E. Chávez Boulevard and Sandy Boulevard, and creating a Bus Rapid Transit lane from Sandy Boulevard to Division.

Morillo has committed to the ‘Save Portland Street Response’ pledge, vowing to prioritize, introduce, and vote in favor of full funding for Portland Street Response to operate 24-7 in every budget cycle. Additionally, she has taken the ‘No Fossil Fuel Money’ pledge, rejecting contributions of over $200 from the oil, gas, and coal industries, and the ‘No Police Money Pledge’, refusing contributions or endorsements from police unions or associations. Further, she is a signatory of a pledge to vote in favor of a Gaza Ceasefire resolution, and a pledge to establish a Renters’ Bill of Rights expanding protections for renters.
